OUR HISTORY

Viña Cavallieri is a family project lead by siblings Silvana and Antonio Cavallieri Badilla, pediatric anesthesiologist and agricultural engineer, respectively, who inherited their passion for the vine from their ancestors, Italian immigrant who, in the early 20th century, settled in the town of Capitán Pastene and planted a small vineyard in the Malleco Valley. In 1970, the vines were uprooted and replaced by non-indigenous trees that were exotic to the region, such as eucalyptus and pine, that were used to supply the growing logging industry. Today, the Cavallieri duo have returned to reestablish the family’s old viticultural heritage, developing a human scale vineyard project that respects the earth through genuine wines that honor their roots through minimal intervention, allowing the grapes to express themselves through the hands of winemaker Alejandro Jofré.
